D-Day plus 1 and 2 . . .

Above: The morning of June
7th. 506th Troops were caught in the open by inexperienced German troops who
were
attempting to retreat across the bridges into Brévands.
The Germans suffered many casualties.
Above right: Whilst the
paratroopers were giving covering fire . . . another group (above left), unseen
by the Germans, outflanked them and
brought the action to a successful conclusion leaving many enemy dead and capturing
a substantial number of prisoners.
